Portsmouth Aviation Limited is seeking a skilled CNC Turner to join our Machine Shop in Portsmouth. You will set up, program, and operate Mazak multi-axis lathes, reading drawings and ensuring tight tolerances on complex parts.

The role demands 5+ years of CNC turning experience, strong programming skills, and the ability to work both independently and within a team. An immediate start is available with ongoing training as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' CNC turning experience.
• Proven experience in CNC setting and programming.
• Experience with multi-axis CNC machinery.
• Experience setting and operating complex CNC turning equipment.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and tolerances.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative.

Responsibilities

• Program, set and operate multi-axis Mazak Integrex lathes.
• Program, set and operate single- and multi-spindle Mazak lathes with driven tooling.
• Set and operate CNC 5-axis machinery.
• Produce small batches of complex, precision-engineered components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and machining requirements.
• Select appropriate tooling and machining strategies to achieve required results.
• Inspect components during manufacture and make adjustments where required.
• Ensure all work is completed to the required quality and dimensional standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
• Work effectively both independently and as part of the wider Machine Shop team.

About The Role

Portsmouth Aviation Limited is looking for an experienced Skilled Turner to join our Machine Shop team in Portsmouth.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC Turner with strong experience in setting, programming and operating CNC turning machinery, who enjoys working on complex, high-precision components and small batch production.

The successful candidate will work as part of an experienced Machine Shop team, producing components to exacting quality standards for customers operating across highly regulated and technically demanding industries.

Key Responsibilites:

Desirable Experience:

• Experience with Mazak Matrix II control systems.
• Experience with Mazak Smooth control systems.
• Haas and Fanuc experience.
• Experience with HyperMill and/or Mastercam CAD/CAM software.

Training can be provided on CAD/CAM systems to the right candidate.

Working Hours:

37 hours per week:

• Monday to Thursday: 7:30am - 4:00pm
• Friday: 7:30am - 12:30pm

Salary & Benefits:

• £19.90 per hour
