Job summary

Morgan Jones Recruitment Consultants is seeking an experienced CNC Trainer in Whitstable to lead hands-on training for apprentices and operators. You will develop capabilities across the machine shop, coach on setting and operation techniques, and uphold strict quality and safety standards.

Ideal candidates have proven CNC lathe experience, strong coaching skills, and the ability to mentor new starters while driving continuous improvement in machining processes.

Qualifications

• Proven CNC lathe setting and operating experience in precision engineering.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience using measuring and inspection equipment.
• GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Deliver practical CNC training programmes for apprentices and employees.
• Provide hands-on training on Nakamura and Citizen CNC lathes.
• Assess employee competency and identify development needs.
• Maintain training plans, records and skills matrices.
• Support apprentices throughout their learning journey.
• Work with production teams to identify skills gaps.
• Train employees in machine setting and operation techniques.
• Deliver training on inspection methods and measuring equipment.
• Promote quality standards and traceability requirements.
• Coach staff on tooling, machine optimisation and efficiency improvements.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
• Assist in developing training materials and work instructions.
• Support internal and external audits relating to training and competency.

The Opportunity

Our client, a successful and growing precision engineering manufacturer, is looking for an experienced CNC professional to join their team as a CNC Trainer.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC Setter/Operator who enjoys mentoring others and sharing technical expertise. You will play a key role in developing apprentices, new starters and existing employees, helping to build capability across the machine shop while promoting quality, efficiency and safe working practices.

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Proven CNC lathe setting and operating experience within precision engineering
• Strong knowledge of Nakamura and Citizen CNC machinery
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Experience using measuring and inspection equipment
• Excellent understanding of machining processes, tooling and quality standards
• Strong communication, coaching and mentoring skills
• GCSE English and Maths or equivalent relevant experience

Desirable

• NVQ Level 3, BTEC, HNC/HND or equivalent engineering qualification
• Assessor, coaching or training qualification
• Experience training apprentices
• Knowledge of apprenticeship standards
• Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience

Applicants must be physically capable of carrying out duties which may include lifting, bending and standing for extended periods.
