Job summary

The Just Recruitment Group is recruiting a CNC Sliding Head Setter/Operator for a precision engineering company in Braintree, Essex. The role involves operating multiple CNC sliding head lathes, setting tooling, and loading programs with prove-out per works instructions.

You will ensure first-off parts meet drawings and QA requirements while maintaining in-process quality checks. The position is permanent with a 37-hour week, rotating early and late shifts (Early 06:00–14:00, Late 14:00–22:00).

Qualifications

• Experience in setting and operating CNC sliding head lathes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Proficiency with measuring equipment and inspection techniques.
• Self-sufficient quality control including first-off approval and in-process checks.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set several CNC sliding head lathes.
• Load and run programs through prove-out according to tooling lists and works instructions.
• Produce a valid first-off component in line with drawings and quality requirements.
• Load and operate machines to meet required quantities.
• Perform in-process inspection and check against drawings and specifications.
• Complete QA records and maintain traceability.
• Follow site H&S procedures in full.
• Select correct tooling and set machines to produce quality parts.
