Job summary

Simpson Recruitment Services is recruiting for a Plymouth-based manufacturer seeking a skilled CNC Setter/Programmer. The role covers setting up, programming and operating CNC milling/turning centres to tight tolerances from engineering drawings, using Fanuc or Siemens controls.

The successful candidate will read drawings, perform quality checks with precision equipment, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in CNC setting or operating with Fanuc or Siemens controls.

• Experience with CAM software is advantageous but training is provided.

Position: CNC Setter/Programmer

Location: Plymouth

Our client, a leading and well-established manufacturer based in Plymouth, specialises in precision-engineered products crafted from ferrous and non-ferrous metals. These high-tolerance, safety-critical components are designed for use in some of the world's most exciting and challenging environments, including regulated markets such as Marine, Nuclear, Renewable Energy, and Oil & Gas.

With a robust order book that reflects strong and sustained demand for their products, they are now looking to expand their team by recruiting enthusiastic and motivated CNC Setters/Programmers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up, program, and operate CNC machining centres or CNC turning centres with precision and efficiency.
• Work with Fanuc or Siemens controls to produce components to exacting tolerances, ensuring compliance with detailed engineering drawings.
• Perform rigorous checks of manufactured components using precision measuring equipment to ensure they meet required specifications.
• Contribute to the production of safety-critical parts that are subject to high levels of inspection, guaranteeing accurate and consistent quality.
• Collaborate closely with other team members and departments to optimise manufacturing processes and ensure smooth workflow.
• Engage in continuous learning and development opportunities, including training on the latest CNC technologies and CAM software.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in CNC setting or operating, particularly with Fanuc or Siemens controls. You should be adept at working to close tolerances and have a strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Experience with CAM software is advantageous but not essential, as our client is committed to providing comprehensive training to the right candidate.
