Job summary

We are recruiting for an established fastener manufacturing business to strengthen its production team with an experienced CNC Setter / Operator. The role covers setting and operating a range of CNC, sliding-head, thread rolling and conventional machines, with a strong emphasis on cross-skilling and learning new equipment.

The ideal candidate will have experience in fastener manufacturing, turned parts or precision engineering, and be comfortable setting and operating multiple production

Job description

We are recruiting for an established fastener manufacturing business looking to strengthen its production team with an experienced CNC Setter / Operator.

The company manufactures fasteners and associated precision-engineered components and operates a varied range of CNC, sliding-head, thread rolling and conventional machinery.

This is a permanent opportunity for the right person following the successful completion of a probationary period.

The Role

We are ideally looking for a skilled Setter / Operator with experience in a fastener, turned-parts or precision engineering environment.

The business values cross-skilled machinists who can work across different types of production machinery. You don't necessarily need experience on every machine listed below – someone with strong engineering fundamentals, the right aptitude and a willingness to learn will also be considered.

The company may also consider an experienced CNC Operator who isn't yet a fully accomplished setter if they demonstrate the right technical ability and potential to develop.

Machinery within the business includes:

• Thread rolling machines
• STAR 32J Sliding Head
• STAR 20J Sliding Head
• STAR SK51
• Doosan CNC machines
• Victor CNC machines
• Polyturn
• Milling machines
• Capstans
• Other fastener manufacturing and production machinery

The company is continuing to invest in its machining capability, with an additional Doosan CNC also being introduced.

About You

Ideally, you'll have experience within fastener manufacturing, turned parts, CNC machining or precision engineering and be comfortable setting and operating production machinery.

Experience with STAR sliding-head machines, Doosan, Victor CNCs or thread rolling would be particularly relevant.

We're also interested in hearing from engineers who have a broader cross-section of machining skills and enjoy working across different machines rather than being restricted to one particular process.

Most importantly, you'll need a good engineering mindset, a reliable approach and the ability and willingness to learn new machinery and processes.

Hours & Benefits

39 hours per week, typically:

• Monday to Thursday – 7:00am to 4:30pm
• Friday – Half day

The package includes 28 days' holiday including bank holidays and Christmas allowance, with company pension auto-enrolment and enrolment into the Healthshield scheme following probation.

Hourly rate is dependent on experience and skill level, particularly the candidate's setting, operating and overall machining capabilities.
