Career Makers is seeking an experienced CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator for its precision engineering client in Halifax, West Yorkshire. You will program, set and operate 3- and 4-axis milling machines using Heidenhain controls to produce high‑quality components from Inconel, Nitronic and stainless steels.

The role offers a stable day shift: Mon-Thu 7:00–15:30, Fri 7:00–13:00, 38 hours per week, with an early finish on Fridays and a modern, well‑equipped shop floor.

Competenze

• Proven experience as CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator.
• Strong knowledge of Heidenhain CNC controls.
• Experience setting and operating vertical milling machines.
• The ability to program directly at the machine.
• Experience machining exotic or hard-to-machine materials such as Inconel or Nitronic.

CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator

Location: Halifax, West Yorkshire

Salary: £17.50 – £19.80 per hour, dependent on experience

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator to join a well-established precision engineering business based in Halifax. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC machinist with strong experience in programming, setting and operating 3 and 4-axis vertical milling machines using Heidenhain controls. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-precision components to exacting quality and tolerance standards, including machining challenging materials such as Inconel, Nitronic, stainless steel and other high-spec alloys.

Working Hours

Monday – Thursday: 7:00am – 3:30pm Friday: 7:00am – 1:00pm 38 hours

Key Responsibilities

• Program new CNC milling jobs directly at the machine using Heidenhain controls
• Set and operate vertical milling machines
• Load, prove, edit and optimise CNC programs

About You

• Proven experience as a CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator
• Strong knowledge of Heidenhain CNC controls
• Experience setting and operating vertical milling machines
• The ability to program directly at the machine
• Experience machining exotic or hard-to-machine materials such as Inconel or Nitronic
• Good knowledge of fixture setup, tooling selection and work offset setting
• A strong understanding of cutting tools and advanced machining practices
• The ability to work accurately to tight tolerances
• Excellent attention to detail and a self-motivated approach
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Desirable Experience

• Experience with one-off, prototype or small-batch production
• Experience within precision or high-integrity industries such as aerospace, oil & gas, medical or motorsport
• Knowledge of continuous improvement or lean manufacturing techniques
