Ambitek Limited in Standish, Wigan invites an experienced CNC Miller - Setter/Programmer to join its precision engineering team. You will produce high-precision components on CNC centres, reading detailed drawings and following specifications.

The role spans one-offs to small batches in a varied, technically challenging environment. The ideal candidate will be time-served with proven experience on Haas or Fanuc controls, be adept at tooling selection, measurement and ensuring quality.

Qualifications

• Time-served machinist with practical experience on CNC milling.

Responsibilities

Our client is a well-established, family-run precision engineering business based in Standish, Wigan, with over 75 years of engineering experience.

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Miller - Setter / Programmer to join the manufacturing team.

You will be responsible for producing high-precision machined components on CNC machining centres, working from detailed engineering drawings and specifications.

The role offers plenty of variety, covering one-off components through to medium-batch production, making it an excellent opportunity for an experienced machinist who enjoys working on varied and technically challenging projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Set and operate CNC machining centres.
• Programme CNC machines, either on-machine or offline depending on experience.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Select appropriate tooling, work-holding and cutting tools.
• Set machines accurately and efficiently.
• Produce first-off components for inspection and approval.
• Inspect finished components using precision measuring equipment.
• Maintain consistently high quality standards.
• Make tooling and machining adjustments where required.
• Identify and resolve machining issues.
• Assist with improving machining methods, processes and cycle times.
• Work closely with production and inspection teams.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Time-served machinist or equivalent practical engineering experience.
• Previous experience setting CNC machining centres.
• Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Good understanding of engineering tolerances.
• Competent using precision measuring equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Positive and proactive attitude.

Desirable Experience

• Experience with Haas and/or Fanuc controls.
• Previous 5-axis machining experience.
• Knowledge of OneCNC software.
• Experience machining stainless steel, alloy steels and aluminium.
• Experience working on one-off and medium-batch precision components.
