Job summary

Proman is seeking an experienced CNC Milling Machine Operator / Setter to join the production team. You will set and operate an XYZ SMX 4000 milling machine, load tooling, adjust offsets and machine components to precise engineering specifications.

Daily duties include reading drawings, using ProtoTRAK controllers, measuring with verniers and micrometers, and maintaining quality documentation. A strong focus on safety and accuracy is required.

Qualifications

• Previous machining experience within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
• Experience setting and operating CNC milling machines.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Confident using measuring equipment (verniers, micrometers, gauges).
• Able to work to tight tolerances and maintain safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate an XYZ SMX 4000 milling machine.
• Use a ProtoTRAK / ProTRAK controller in daily operations.
• Load materials, tooling and fixtures; adjust offsets as required.
• Machining components to drawings and specifications.
• Inspect with measuring equipment to verify tolerances.
• Read, interpret and work from engineering drawings.
• Complete production and quality documentation accurately.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area; support continuous improvement.

CNC Milling Machine Operator / Setter

XYZ SMX 4000 Milling Machine – ProtoTRAK / ProTRAK Controller

Monday-Friday 8am-4pm (37.5 weekly hours)

Pay Rate £16.50-£18.50 DOE per hour

The Role

Our client is a well-established engineering manufacturer looking to recruit an experienced CNC Milling Machine Operator / Setter to join their production team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating the machine, loading materials and tooling, adjusting offsets and producing high-quality components to engineering specifications.

Please note: this is not a programming role. The role is focused on machine setting, operating, and machining components accurately.

Key Responsibilities

• Set and operate an XYZ SMX 4000 milling machine.
• Use a ProtoTRAK / ProTRAK controller as part of day-to-day machine operation.
• Load and secure materials, tooling and fixtures.
• Adjust tooling, machine settings and fixture offsets as required.
• Carry out machining of components to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Use measuring and inspection equipment to check components against required tolerances.
• Read, interpret and work from engineering drawings.
• Complete production and quality documentation accurately.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area in line with company procedures.
• Support team working and continuous improvement within the manufacturing environment.
