Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a permanent CNC Miller / Setter / Operator (5 Axis) for a late shift in Northampton. You will set and operate 3- and 5-axis centres, read engineering drawings and perform in-process checks on milled/turned components from solids and various metals/plastics.

Shift: Mon-Thu 2pm–10pm, Fri 1pm–8pm. Experience with Heidenhain, Hurco or Mazatrol controls is preferred; strong autonomy, problem-solving, and multi-machine capability are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience setting and operating 3- and 5-axis machining centres.

A permanent CNC Miller / Setter / Operator -5 Axis, Late Shift position is available in Northampton, offering £50,000 to £54,000 per annum. This engineering firm manufactures high-precision milled and turned components from solid and cast materials across various sectors. The working pattern is Monday to Thursday, 2pm to 10pm, and Friday, 1pm to 8pm. Candidates need experience setting and operating 3 and 5 axis machining centres, plus familiarity with Heidenhein, Hurco, or Mazatrol controls. Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and performing in-process dimensional and visual checks is essential. This role suits a skilled machinist seeking a consistent late shift schedule within a specialist production environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a CNC Miller / Setter / Operator to join an engineering company based in Milton Keynes that manufactures high precision CNC milled and turned components from solid and cast in a wide range of metals and plastics for a variety of industry sectors.

As CNC Miller / Setter / Operator, you will be working: Monday - Thursday: 2pm to 10pm, Friday 1pm to 8pm.

What we’re looking for in a CNC Miller / Setter / Operator:

• Experienced Setter / Operator Miller across a range of 3 and 5 axis CNC machine centres, ideally within a fast-paced precision engineering environment.
• Knowledge of either Heidenhein, Hurco or Mazatrol controls.
• Good understanding of Engineering drawings and proficient in carrying out in- process dimensional and visual checks using the appropriate measuring equipment.
• Experience in managing a wide range of metals and plastics.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work efficiently to deadlines.
• Ability to mind multiple machines if required.
• Confident in working with a degree of autonomy.
