Job summary

ABS Talent Ltd. in Hyde, Cheshire, is seeking a skilled CNC Miller Setter/Operator to join the machining team. You will set up and run 3-, 4- and 5-axis mills, machining high-spec components for aerospace sectors and ensuring right-first-time results.

The role involves reading complex drawings, tight tolerances, and close collaboration with the inspection team. Overtime and shift work available, with a permanent contract in a modern facility.

Qualifications

• Proven CNC milling experience on 3, 4 or 5-axis machines.
• Ability to read complex engineering drawings and hold tight tolerances.
• Background in aerospace, defence or high-spec subcontract manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Setting and operating CNC milling machines from drawings.
• First-off and in-process inspection alongside the inspection department.
• Work with materials such as titanium, aluminium and Inconel.
• Use boring bars, specialist tooling and precision measuring equipment.

CNC Miller — Setter/Operator (3, 4 & 5-Axis) | Hyde | Permanent | Shift

A long-established precision engineering manufacturer in Hyde, Cheshire — part of a major engineering group with 40+ years' heritage — is looking for skilled CNC Miller Setter/Operators to join its machining team. The company manufactures critical, high-precision components and assemblies for the aerospace, aero engine, marine and nuclear sectors, working to AS9100 standards on genuinely challenging, high-value work.

The role:

• Setting and operating CNC milling machines — 3, 4 and 5-axis
• Working from engineering drawings to extremely tight tolerances, right first time
• Machining critical components in materials such as titanium, aluminium and Inconel
• First-off and in-process inspection, working alongside the inspection department
• Using boring bars, specialist tooling and precision measuring equipment

We're looking for someone with:

• Proven CNC milling experience — setting and operating on 3, 4 or 5-axis machines
• Heidenhain, Siemens or Mazatrol controls (Heidenhain an advantage; strong multi-axis milling experience matters most — controls are secondary)
• Ability to read complex engineering drawings and hold tight tolerances
• A background in aerospace, defence or high-spec subcontract precision manufacturing
• Time-served or equivalent hands‑on experience

• £16.50-£19 per hour depending on experience, plus shift allowance (time and a third)
• Overtime regularly available, paid at 1.5x - Sunday work paid at double
• Shift work — 2pm-10pm (afternoons) or nights, hours to be confirmed
