Overview

CNC Miller Programmer (Mazak) – Location: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. Salary: £38,000 – £42,000 per annum (depending on experience).

The client specialises in the design and manufacture of high-precision engineering solutions. Their products are used worldwide in motorsport, automotive, aerospace, and other demanding industries. With advanced facilities in Peterborough, they combine cutting-edge technology with expert craftsmanship to deliver exceptional quality and performance. We are seeking a skilled CNC Miller Programmer (Mazak) to strengthen the manufacturing team and support continued growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program, set, and operate Mazak milling machines using Mazatrol and G-code.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications.
  • Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and workholding for efficient setups.
  • Produce high-precision components to tight tolerances, carrying out in-process inspection.
  • Optimise CNC programs to reduce cycle times and improve efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively with design and production teams to ensure manufacturability.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues, adjust offsets, and resolve production problems.
  • Carry out routine machine maintenance and ensure safe working practices.
Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in CNC milling on Mazak machines (programming and setting).
  • Strong knowledge of Mazatrol and G-code programming.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Skilled in the use of measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges; CMM experience a plus).
  • Understanding of materials, cutting parameters, and tooling strategies.
  • Experience in low-volume, high-precision manufacturing preferred.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Positive, team-oriented approach with a commitment to quality.
Desirable
  • Experience with multi-axis Mazak machines.
  • Knowledge of CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360).
  • Familiarity with aerospace, motorsport, or high-precision manufacturing environments.
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
