Job summary

Actio Recruitment is seeking an experienced CNC Miller Programmer, Setter and Operator in Cumbernauld, Scotland, to work on Hurco machines producing precision components.

You will program, set and run Hurco CNC milling centres, read drawings, select tooling, and conduct first-off inspections; this is a permanent role with up to £30 per hour and overtime at double time.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as CNC Miller Programmer, Setter and Operator.
• Strong knowledge of Hurco controls and ability to program from scratch.
• Experience in a precision engineering environment and reading engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Programming, setting and operating Hurco CNC milling machines.
• Producing one-off, prototype and batch work.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Selecting tooling, fixtures and machining strategies.
• Editing existing programs and creating programs from scratch.

The Role

As a CNC Miller Programmer / Setter / Operator, you will be responsible for programming, setting and operating Hurco CNC milling machines, producing precision components to exact customer specifications while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Programming, setting and operating Hurco CNC milling machines.
• Producing one-off, prototype and batch work.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Selecting tooling, fixtures and machining strategies.
• Editing existing programs and creating programs from scratch.
• Carrying out first-off and in-process inspections.
• Using a range of measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers and gauges.
• Maintaining quality, productivity and housekeeping standards.
• Working closely with the production team to meet delivery targets.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a CNC Miller Programmer, Setter and Operator.
• Strong knowledge of Hurco controls.
• Ability to program from scratch and make program amendments.
• Experience working within a precision engineering environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Competent using inspection and measuring equipment.
• Experience machining a range of materials including steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
• Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail.
