Job summary

Trident Recruitment is recruiting an experienced 5-Axis CNC Miller/Programmer to join a high-level precision engineering business in Oxford. The role offers the chance to learn rapidly and progress into a Senior/Leadership position as the company grows.

You will program, set and support complex multi-axis machining work from drawing to finished part, using CAD/CAM software and offline programming. The role requires a strong background in 5-axis milling and tight tolerances.

Qualifications

• 5-axis machining experience is essential for this position.
• Strong CAD/CAM programming knowledge is required.
• Experience taking complex components from drawing to finished part.
• Excellent understanding of tooling, workholding and machining strategies.

Responsibilities

• Program complex 5-axis CNC milling machines.
• Produce 5-axis simultaneous machining programs.
• Offline programming using CAD/CAM software.
• Program, set and prove out new components.
• Work from complex engineering drawings and specs.
• Select tooling, determine speeds/feeds and machining strategies.
• Improve existing programs and reduce cycle times.
• Troubleshoot machining and programming issues.
• Support less experienced engineers in the shop.
• Drive machining standards and continuous improvement.
• Take on increasing technical and leadership responsibility.

The Role

You will be responsible for programming, setting and supporting complex multi-axis machining work, taking components from drawing through to finished part.

• Programming complex 5-axis CNC milling machines
• Producing 5-axis simultaneous machining programs
• Offline programming using CAD/CAM software
• Programming, setting and proving out new components
• Working from complex engineering drawings and specifications
• Tooling selection, speeds, feeds and machining strategy
• Improving existing programs and reducing cycle times
• Troubleshooting machining and programming issues
• Supporting less experienced engineers within the machine shop
• Helping drive machining standards and continuous improvement
• Taking on increasing technical and leadership responsibility
