Job summary

Contek Recruitment Solutions Ltd, on behalf of a well-established Abingdon precision engineering business, seeks an experienced CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator. You will program, set and operate 3, 4 and 5-axis milling machines with Heidenhain controls to produce large, tight-tolerance components.

Strong Heidenhain and 5-axis experience is essential, with a focus on high-precision parts up to 2.5 metres.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a CNC Miller, Programmer, Setter/Operator or similar.
• Strong Heidenhain experience essential.
• Proven 3, 4 and 5-axis milling experience.
• Experience programming online at the machine.
• Experience machining large components.
• Experience with Doosan, Matsuura, Mazak or similar machinery advantageous.
• Fanuc experience beneficial but not essential.
• Strong engineering drawing interpretation skills.
• Good understanding of tooling, feeds, speeds and machining techniques.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Time-served apprenticeship preferred, although relevant experience will be considered.

CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator

Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Hours: 39 hours per week Contract: Permanent

Contek Recruitment are representing their client, a well-established precision engineering business based in Abingdon, who are looking to recruit an experienced CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC Miller with strong Heidenhain and 5-axis machining experience. The role involves programming, setting and operating modern CNC milling machinery, including the machining of large and complex components to extremely tight tolerances.

The company manufactures precision components for demanding industries including nuclear, medical, semiconductor and scientific sectors, operating from a modern and well-organised engineering facility with significant investment in CNC machinery, laser and CMM inspection technology.

THE ROLE

You will be responsible for taking components from engineering drawings through to completed parts, carrying out your own programming, setting, machining and inspection.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently and will have a strong understanding of tooling, workholding, machining parameters and how to achieve consistent, high-quality results.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Previous experience as a CNC Miller, Programmer, Setter/Operator or similar
• Strong Heidenhain experience is essential
• Proven 3, 4 and 5-axis milling experience
• Experience programming online at the machine
• Experience machining large components
• Experience with Doosan, Matsuura, Mazak or similar machinery would be advantageous
• Fanuc experience would be beneficial but is not essential
• Strong engineering drawing interpretation skills
• Good understanding of tooling, feeds, speeds and machining techniques
• Experience using precision measuring equipment
• Time-served apprenticeship preferred, although relevant experience will be considered
• Strong attention to detail with a right-first-time approach
• Reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently
