Job summary

Rolls-Royce plc in Derby is recruiting for CNC Machinist WFL Operators to join the Mainline Shafts team. You will operate state-of-the-art WFL/CNC machines, interpret drawings, and ensure high-quality shaft components across engine projects.

The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive improvement in manufacturing processes. Experience with aerospace components, Siemens controls, and 5-axis machines is preferred.

Qualifications

• Completed an advanced modern engineering apprenticeship and an NVQ/SVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
• Prior experience with aerospace components would be preferable.
• Clear understanding of drawing interpretation, calibration, dimensional and visual inspection.

Job Description CNC Machinist WFL Operator Full time Derby

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a number of WFL Operators to join our team in Mainline Shafts (DSFT), within the Rotatives Supply Chain Unit. You will operate in a busy, world-class engineering and manufacturing environment and be responsible for delivering against weekly targets to meet customer requirements.

Your role as a WFL machine operator will involve working on some of the latest machining platforms in Rolls Royce producing various shaft components across all the major engine projects, your role will also involve working with cross functional teams to implement and sustain improvement activities within our manufacturing environment.

What you will be doing: Work to Rolls-Royce Technical Instructions and program manuals to deliver consistent, high quality machining across a variety of different components and product families. Operate a variety of Inspection equipment, including machine probing, micrometers, plug gauges. The interpretation of manufacturing drawings, customer drawings and written specifications. The assessment of whether the quality of components produced within the facility meets the required standards. Work within a team to effectively resolve quality issues and ensure your work is being completed to plan.

Preferred requirements: Completed an advanced modern engineering apprenticeship* and an NVQ/SVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent qualification, with previous experience with aerospace components would be preferable. Prior experience on WFL, 5 axis machine centres and/or Siemens controls would be preferable. Clear and demonstrated understanding of drawing interpretation, calibration, dimensional and visual inspection.
