Job summary

Guided Talent Ltd in Sittingbourne, Kent, is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist/Programmer to join a busy manufacturing operation. You will program, set and run CNC machines, read engineering drawings and optimise machining processes while maintaining high quality standards.

The role combines hands-on machining with problem-solving and process improvement. You will take ownership of jobs, troubleshoot tooling and programming issues, and work in a safe, efficient environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a CNC Machinist, CNC Programmer, CNC Miller or CNC Turner.
• Strong CNC programming experience.
• Experience setting and running CNC machinery within a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of machining processes, tooling, speeds and feeds.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve manufacturing issues.
• Quality-focused with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of machining tasks.
• Proactive approach to improving manufacturing processes and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Programme, set and operate CNC machinery.
• Create, edit and optimise CNC programmes to meet production requirements.
• Run CNC machines efficiently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and manufacturing requirements.
• Identify, investigate and resolve machining and manufacturing issues.
• Troubleshoot problems relating to tooling, machining processes and CNC programmes.
• Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds and machining parameters.
• Make programme adjustments and machine offsets where required.
• Monitor component quality and ensure parts are manufactured to specification.
• Support improvements to machining processes, cycle times and overall production efficiency.
• Work closely with colleagues to resolve technical and manufacturing challenges.
