WR Engineering in Clevedon is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join its precision engineering team, producing aerospace components on modern CNC machines.

You will interpret engineering drawings, set tooling and offsets, perform in-process checks with micrometers and verniers, and work to tight tolerances while maintaining high quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience as CNC Machinist, Setter/Operator, or Turner/Miller.
  • Experience in aerospace/precision engineering environments.
  • Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
  • Work to tight tolerances and high quality standards.
  • Knowledge of tooling, workholding and offsets.
  • Able to identify and resolve machining issues.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machinery to produce precision components.
  • Work from engineering drawings, specs and process docs.
  • Set tooling, workholding and offsets; adjust tooling as needed.
  • Maintain tight dimensional tolerances and perform in-process inspections.
  • Use micrometers, verniers, gauges and other inspection tools.
  • Identify and resolve machining issues to minimise scrap/rework.
  • Support improvements to machining processes, tooling and productivity.
  • Maintain housekeeping, quality, and health & safety standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers, inspectors and production team.

Job description

Role: CNC Machinist

Location: Clevedon

Salary: Up to £45,000 depending on experience

My client is looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to join an established precision engineering business supplying components into the aerospace industry.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist who enjoys working with high precision components, tight tolerances and demanding quality standards.

The successful candidate will be working within a modern manufacturing environment, producing complex components using CNC machinery and ensuring all work is completed accurately and to specification.

Responsibilities include:
  • Setting and operating CNC machinery to produce precision components.
  • Working from engineering drawings, specifications and process documentation.
  • Setting tooling, workholding and machine offsets.
  • Adjusting tooling and offsets to maintain component quality.
  • Producing components to tight dimensional tolerances.
  • Carrying out in-process inspection and dimensional checks.
  • Using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, gauges and other inspection equipment.
  • Identifying and correcting machining issues to minimise scrap and rework.
  • Working with a range of materials and component types.
  • Supporting improvements to machining processes, tooling and productivity.
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, quality and health & safety.
  • Working closely with engineers, inspectors and other members of the production team.
Skills and experience:
  • Previous experience as a CNC Machinist, CNC Setter/Operator or CNC Turner/Miller.
  • Experience working within aerospace, defence, automotive or other precision engineering environments.
  • Strong experience setting and operating CNC machinery.
  • The ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
  • Experience working to tight tolerances and demanding quality standards.
  • Good knowledge of tooling, workholding and offsets.
  • Confident use of precision measuring equipment.
  • A good understanding of machining processes and cutting tools.
  • A methodical approach to quality and inspection.
  • The ability to identify and resolve basic machining problems.
  • A recognised engineering or machining qualification would be advantageous.
Working Hours
  • Early Shift
    • Monday to Thursday: 05:50 - 14:00
    • Friday: 05:50 - 11:20
  • Late Shift
    • Monday to Thursday: 13:50 - 22:00
    • Friday: 11:10 - 16:40
