Job summary

IRS Recruitment is seeking an Engineering Craftsperson to join an established engineering environment in the Lowestoft area. The role offers varied manual and CNC machining, with a focus on grinding operations and precision engineering.

Job description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Craftsperson to join an established engineering environment in the Lowestoft area.

We are looking for a practical, hands-on engineering professional with a background in machining, fitting or precision engineering, with particular interest in candidates who have experience of grinding operations.

This is a permanent position offering varied engineering work across both manual and CNC machining, providing an opportunity to utilise and further develop your machining and precision engineering skills.

Key Responsibilities

As an Engineering Craftsperson, your duties will include:

• Operating manual and CNC machinery
• Turning and milling operations
• Surface grinding
• Internal and external grinding
• Taper grinding
• Working accurately from engineering drawings and specifications
• Measuring and inspecting completed components
• Ensuring components are produced to the required tolerances and quality standards
• Carrying out general engineering and machining duties as required
• Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment

About You

We would be interested in hearing from candidates with previous experience within engineering, machining, mechanical fitting or a similar manufacturing environment.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous engineering or machining experience
• Experience operating manual machine tools
• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• A good understanding of engineering tolerances and measurement
• Experience using inspection and measuring equipment
• A practical, methodical approach to your work
• Good attention to detail

Previous grinding and/or CNC machining experience would be highly advantageous, although candidates with strong transferable engineering skills are also encouraged to apply.
