Job summary

Dovetail And Slate Limited is seeking an experienced CNC/Machinist Lecturer to join our Essex-based team on a permanent basis. You will design, deliver and assess machining and CNC programmes, blending hands-on workshop teaching with necessary theory to prepare learners for industry roles.

In this role, you will adapt to diverse learners, shape curriculum, and support graduates moving into education. Prior industry experience is welcomed and support is offered to transition into teaching.

Qualifications

• Substantial practical experience in CNC, machining or precision engineering.
• Ability to teach and demonstrate practical skills clearly to learners.
• Commitment to helping learners achieve and progress.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one.

Responsibilities

• Designing, planning, delivering and assessing machining and CNC programmes across a range of levels.
• Delivering a mix of practical workshop teaching and underpinning theory.
• Bringing current industry practice and standards into your teaching.
• Assessing learner work fairly and giving clear, constructive feedback.
• Creating a safe, positive and supportive workshop environment.
• Monitoring learner progress and adapting your teaching to meet individual needs.
• Working with colleagues to develop and keep the curriculum relevant.
