Job summary

Career Choices Dewis Gyrfa Ltd in Port Talbot is seeking a hands-on Machining Cell Leader to oversee day-to-day operations in a busy precision environment. You will work with Production, Planning and Purchasing teams to meet targets and can run the department in the manager’s absence.

Responsibilities include creating and optimising CNC programs for DMG Mori machines, setting up lathes/mills/drills, and performing in-process inspections with high accuracy.

Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC machines in a production environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Skilled with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
• Proficiency with DMG Mori programming platforms (Celos, VPS).
• Experience with CAD/CAM software (Siemens NX, Mastercam) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create and optimise CNC programs for DMG Mori machines using offline tools.
• Set up and operate CNC machines (lathes, mills, drills) per job specs.
• Load raw materials and verify tooling setup.
• Interpret drawings and ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Perform in-process inspections with precision instruments and report issues.
• Collaborate with programmers and machining production manager to meet schedules.
