AWD online is recruiting a hands-on CNC Machine Operator for a steel processing site in Shafton. The role involves operating CNC profile machines, handling materials safely and maintaining quality standards on a rotating days/afters pattern.

You will work across a modern production environment, contribute to plate processing, stock control and housekeeping while meeting deadlines as part of a team.

CNC Machine Operator

Join a steel processing operation where CNC profiling, safe material handling and quality matter. A CNC profile machine background is essential, with a rotating days-and-afters pattern across the working week.

This role is officially known within the organisation as a General Operative

LOCATION: Shafton, Barnsley South Yorkshire

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 40 hours per week, rotating days and afters. Days: 6am to 3pm Monday to Thursday and 6am to 12:30pm Friday. Afters: 3pm to 12am Monday to Thursday and 12:30pm to 7pm Friday

JOB OVERVIEW

A hands-on opportunity is available for a CNC Machine Operator to contribute within a modern steel processing environment using advanced cutting and profiling equipment.

The CNC Machine Operator will support accurate plate processing, stock handling and quality standards while working independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.

Working across a rotating shift pattern, the CNC Machine Operator will help maintain safe, efficient operations, including material movement, housekeeping and production quality.

DUTIES

• CNC Profile Machine Operation: Operate CNC profile machines, including plasma and gas equipment
• Crane and Fork Truck Operation: Operate overhead cranes and fork trucks to move materials safely
• Stock Control and Picking: Manage stock control and pick allocated steel plate
• Heavy-Lift Handling and Transport: Handle and transport heavy lifts safely
• Quality Control: Follow required quality controls throughout processing
• Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure work complies with relevant health and safety legislation
• Teamwork and Deadlines: Work independently and with colleagues to meet deadlines
• Cleaning and Housekeeping: Maintain clean and orderly working areas
