Job summary

Spear & Jackson Group of Companies in Bradford is seeking a CNC Grinding Technician to operate both Manual Surface Grinding Machines and Semi-auto Grinding Machines within a precision engineering environment.

You will report to the Production Manager, work 38 hours per week at £17.60 per hour, enjoy a pension scheme and 28 days holiday entitlement, with Christmas leave as noted. This role requires careful measuring and adherence to SOPs, with teamwork to ensure exact specifications.

Qualifications

• Experience in precision machining and measurement.
• Ability to operate manual and semi-automatic grinding machines.
• Willingness to learn CNC cylindrical grinding.
• Background in precision engineering.
• Strong shop floor experience.
• Academic background in mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities

Job Title: CNC Grinding Technician Reports to: Production Manager

Location: Bradford

Site/hybrid working: Bradford - Full time – 38hrs per week

Role purpose:

The primary responsibility of the CNC Grinding Technician is to operate both Manual Surface Grinding Machines and Semi-auto Grinding Machines.

Dimensions:

• Reporting to the Production Manager
• Responsible for the Production Grinding
• No direct reports

Key Accountabilities:

• Produce components to manufacturing specifications.
• Check the size and accuracy of components produced during and at the end of manufacturing process.
• Always apply full attention to detail, ensuring assigned work is understood prior to commencing.
• Complete assigned work within given timeframe and according to specifications.
• Complete required paperwork.
• Follow Management / Supervisor instructions for the efficient delivery of responsibilities.
• Work in accordance with Shopfloor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Operate Machinery, always complying with Company policy, procedure and Health and Safety guidelines.
• Perform minor equipment maintenance.
• Work efficiently and effectively on own and as part of a team.
• Complete housekeeping duties in assigned areas daily / when required.
• Ensure safety devices are in operation.
• Adhere to all PPE / workwear requirements.
• Undertake all other reasonable work requests to support / assist the smooth running of the shop floor.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Experience of working in a similar role with proven understanding of precision machining and measurement.
• Operate Manual Surface Grinding Machines and Semi-Auto Grinding Machines.
• Knowledge of CNC Cylindrical Grinding Machines, and willingness to learn how to operate.
• Precision Engineering background is essential.
• Good level of academic achievement, ideally within a Mechanical Engineering related discipline.
• Experience in a similar high precision environment.
• Experience in a busy shop floor environment.
