Job summary

Bowers Group in Bradford is seeking a Grinding Technician to join the production team in the Grinding department. The role is suitable for a semi-skilled operator with in-house training offered.

You will operate manual surface grinding machines and semi-automatic grinding machines to manufacture components to exacting specifications. You’ll check size and accuracy throughout production and ensure quality, while completing paperwork and following SOPs for traceability and consistency.

Qualifications

• Some machining/engineering background preferred; training will be provided.
• Grinding experience ideal (internal, surface, cylindrical, centreless, profiling) but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual surface grinding machines and semi-automatic grinding machines to produce components to required specifications.
• Check size and accuracy throughout production and ensure components meet quality requirements during and after manufacture.
• Complete all required paperwork and follow shop floor SOPs to support traceability and consistency.
• Carry out minor machine maintenance, maintain housekeeping standards and ensure PPE and safety devices are used at all times.
• Work as part of the wider production team, while also progressing with individual tasks and goals.

Bowers Group are looking for a Grinding Technician to join our production team within the Grinding department at our Bradford site. This role is ideal for a semi-skilled operator who is looking to improve their skills with some in-house training.

As a Grinding Technician, you’ll operate manual surface grinding machines and semi-automatic grinding machines to manufacture components to exacting specifications. You’ll be responsible for checking size and accuracy throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring components meet quality requirements both during production and on completion. Alongside this, you’ll complete all required paperwork and follow shop floor SOPs to support traceability and consistency.

You’ll work closely with supervisors and colleagues to deliver work efficiently and safely, carrying out minor machine maintenance, maintaining housekeeping standards and ensuring all safety devices and PPE requirements are adhered to at all times. While much of the role involves working independently, you’ll also be a key part of the wider production team, supporting the smooth running of the shop floor as required.

What about you? Ideally, you will have some engineering background with some machining experience preferably in grinding (internal, surface, cylindrical centreless, profiling). But not essential as training will be given to the right candidates who have some machining/engineering background.
