Job summary

SeAH Wind in Middlesbrough is seeking an experienced CNC Burning Machine Operator to join the Production team. You will operate CNC gas burning machines, cut profiles, and edge prepare steel components to drawings, ensuring safety, quality and productivity targets are met.

You will report to the Production Supervisor and work 40 hours per week with a day shift initially, rising to rotating day/night shifts with enhanced earnings.

Qualifications

  • Time served Burner or equivalent City & Guilds/NVQ qualification.
  • Minimum two years' experience operating CNC burning machines.
  • Proficient in CNC burning and hand burning skills.
  • Crane driving qualification.
  • Experience reading technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong safety awareness in manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work to production targets in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC gas burning machines to cut profiles and prepare steel materials.
  • Carry out edge preparation using CNC machinery.
  • Perform CNC profile operations to production requirements.
  • Operate overhead cranes to move materials safely around the facility.
  • Mark cut steel components to maintain full material traceability.
  • Carry out hand burning operations where required.
  • Complete quality control checks using measuring equipment.
  • Maintain equipment and work area through cleaning and maintenance.
  • Identify and report faults, hazards and safety concerns.
  • Support production targets while maintaining quality.

Job description

CNC Burning Machine Operators

We're looking for experienced and motivated CNC Burning Machine Operators to join our Production team at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Middlesbrough. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, you'll play a key role in the production of large-scale offshore wind monopiles, carrying out precision cutting and edge preparation activities while ensuring safety, quality and productivity standards are consistently achieved.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business at the forefront of the renewable energy sector, working on major offshore wind projects and contributing to the UK's clean energy future.

The role will initially be working a day shift at £19.89 per hour plus a 12.5% commissioning allowance. Shift patterns are expected to be introduced within the next 4-6 weeks, moving to a rotating pattern of days and nights with enhanced earnings of £19.89 per hour plus 30% shift allowance.

This is a full-time permanent position, working 40 hours per week, with a competitive pension scheme and Medicash healthcare plan available.

What you'll do day to day

As a CNC Burning Machine Operator, you'll use CNC gas burning machines and handheld burning equipment to cut profiles and edge prepare steel materials to customer drawings and specifications. You'll be responsible for operating CNC machinery, carrying out quality checks, maintaining traceability of materials and supporting the efficient production of components used in monopile construction.

You'll work from engineering drawings and customer specifications to produce high-quality components while meeting production targets. You'll also be expected to identify and report any quality, safety or production issues and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement across the facility

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate CNC gas burning machines to cut profiles and prepare steel materials.
  • Carry out edge preparation activities using CNC machinery.
  • Perform CNC profile operations in line with production requirements.
  • Operate overhead cranes to move materials and components safely around the facility.
  • Mark cut steel components to maintain full material traceability.
  • Carry out hand burning operations where required.
  • Complete quality control checks using measuring equipment.
  • Perform general maintenance, housekeeping and cleaning of equipment and work areas.
  • Identify and report equipment faults, hazards, defects and safety concerns.
  • Support production targets while maintaining the highest standards of quality and workmanship.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to support productivity and efficiency
About You

To be successful in this role, you'll be a time-served Burner or hold a relevant City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent qualification. You'll have experience operating CNC burning equipment and be comfortable working within a heavy engineering or manufacturing environment.

You'll possess strong attention to detail, a commitment to quality and safety, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Desirable Requirements
  • Experience using CNC software.
  • Heavy engineering, offshore, energy or steel fabrication experience.
  • Experience working with large steel plate processing operations.
  • Knowledge of traceability requirements within a manufacturing environment.
