Job summary

Trident Recruitment Ltd in Oxford is recruiting a CNC Estimator to join a well-established precision engineering business. This role combines estimating, customer liaison and business development, leveraging experience in CNC machining or programming.

You will review drawings, estimate times and costs, liaise with customers and internal teams, and contribute to strategic growth while delivering accurate quotations for CNC-machined components.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on CNC machining or programming experience
• Excellent knowledge of 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC milling
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
• Good understanding of machining processes, tooling, cycle times and tolerances
• Previous estimating experience beneficial but not essential
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills
• Commercial awareness and interest in business development
• Experience in precision engineering or high-precision industries preferred

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate quotations for CNC machining work
• Review engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements
• Estimate machining times, tooling, materials and manufacturing costs
• Assess the most efficient manufacturing methods for components
• Work with 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC milling requirements
• Liaise with production and engineering teams regarding manufacturing feasibility
• Communicate directly with customers regarding technical and commercial requirements
• Follow up quotations and develop new opportunities
• Support business development and customer account growth
• Build strong long-term relationships with new and existing customers
