Job summary

Cosworth in Northampton is seeking a CMM Operator to run multiple PC-DMIS and Zeiss CMMs, performing hard-gauging on engine components and ensuring timely inspections as production schedules change daily.

You will collaborate with production and engineering to resolve non-conformances, contribute to 5S and continuous improvement, and uphold health, safety and data protection policies while supporting flexible overtime and shift coverage.

Qualifications

• CMM operating experience.
• Experience handling measuring equipment.
• Background in metrology.
• Understanding of GD&T.
• Experience reading engineering drawings.
• Engineering apprenticeship or similar training.

Responsibilities

• Deliver inspection for manufactured components in a timely manner as set by engineering.
• Support continuous improvement / 5S activities in the department.
• Maintain flexibility to assist with workload.
• Liaise with production and engineering to resolve non-conformances.
• Consider health, safety, environmental and energy impact of activities.
• Support compliance with Data Protection Act 2018.

Job Description:

As a CMM Operator at Cosworth, you will be required to operate multiple PC D-mis and Zeiss CMM’s and carry out any Hard-Gauging requirements from the production line for multiple manufactured engine components. The operator will need to be proactive due to the frequency of inspection set by production and management changing daily. It is the job of the CMM Operator to ensure that the inspection is carried out in a timely manner, escalating any issues or concerns found to production and engineering.

The Role:

• To deliver the inspection for the various manufactured components in a timely manner, as set by engineering.

• To help towards the continuous improvement / 5S activity implemented in the department.

• Maintain a flexible approach to assist with workload as & when required.

• Liaise with production and engineering to resolve any non-conformances found when carrying out the CMM Inspection.

• Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.

• Support the Company’s compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.

Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate will be:

• Experienced within a manufacturing background.

The following experience would be desirable for this role:

• CMM operating experience.

• Experience within a Metrology background.

• Understanding of engineering drawings.

• Apprenticeship within Engineering.

The successful candidate will be required to work alternating early and late shifts.

Early Shift

Monday to Thursday: 06:00 to 14:00

Friday: 06:00 to 13:00

Late Shift

Monday to Thursday: 14:00 to 22:00

Friday: 13:00 to 20:00
