Job summary

Orion Electrotech in Yarnton, Oxfordshire, is seeking a CMM Operator to join a precise manufacturing team. You will set and operate coordinate measuring machines to inspect components and support production with accurate reporting.

The role is permanent with a 9:00am–5:30pm schedule and a salary up to £40,000 p/a, plus pension and private healthcare. You will read drawings, GD&T, and produce clear inspection reports to uphold quality standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a CMM Operator in engineering/manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).

Responsibilities

• Set and operate CMM equipment.
• Perform first-off, in-process, and final inspections on components.
• Interpret drawings, GD&T, and specifications.
• Analyze measurement data and produce inspection reports.
• Identify and report non-conformances.

Are you an experienced CMM Operator with a passion for precision engineering and high-quality inspection? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-paced, technically advanced environment where your expertise will play a key role in ensuring product accuracy and performance.

As a CMM Operator, you’ll be responsible for setting and operating coordinate measuring machines to inspect complex components, supporting production and engineering teams to maintain the highest quality standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Setting and operating CMM equipment
• Performing first‑off, in‑process, and final inspections on components and assemblies
• Interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications
• Analyzing measurement data and producing clear inspection reports
• Identifying and reporting non‑conformances accurately

What You’ll Bring

• Proven experience as a CMM Operator within engineering or manufacturing
• Strong knowledge of CMM operations
• Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and GD&T
• Experience using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
