Job summary

Totara is seeking a Head of Cloud Platform Engineering to shape the future of our cloud-based SaaS platform and global deployments. You will unite multiple infrastructure teams behind a shared operating model and set engineering standards to move fast and with confidence.

You’ll own AWS architecture, multi-cloud strategy, security, resilience, and FinOps, while growing a distributed team across regions. Totara offers flexible, hybrid working and a strong executive sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Leading platform or infrastructure engineering within a growing B2B SaaS business.
• Deep hands-on AWS expertise across infrastructure as code (Terraform), containers, orchestration, networking, and cloud security.
• Experience designing and operating dedicated customer deployments, with isolation, resilience, and operational economics.
• Strong Site Reliability Engineering mindset, including SLIs, incidents, observability, and operational excellence.
• Practical FinOps experience, with cloud cost efficiency improvements.
• Leading and growing distributed engineering teams across multiple locations.
• Experience in regulated industries with security, compliance, and governance considerations.
• Real-world experience delivering multi-cloud platforms and portability where value is added.

Responsibilities

• Lead platform and cloud engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure SaaS infrastructure.
• Define and implement service reliability with clear SLOs and runbooks.
• Drive observability with logging, metrics, tracing from the start.
• Reduce operational toil through automation and self-service.
• Oversee migration to the target operating model and automated lifecycle management.
• Own architecture, security, resilience of AWS estate and multi-cloud strategy.
• Collaborate with security and governance to meet regulatory requirements.
• Foster a high-performing distributed engineering culture across regions.
