Job summary

Cambridge Aerospace is seeking an engineer for the Platform team to design and own the cloud platform architecture, enabling scalable apps with security, reliability and efficiency. You’ll build reusable IaC, pipelines, and tooling used by multiple teams, while embedding security considerations in every layer.

You will collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and other departments, mentor engineers, and help lift platform capabilities while exploring new tools and faster workflows.

Qualifications

• Experience designing cloud platform architecture from scratch in AWS and/or Azure.
• Strong Infrastructure as Code skills (e.g. Terraform) with reusable modules.
• Proficiency in Python or TypeScript for platform tooling or automation.
• Experience designing CI/CD systems and deployment patterns.
• Experience hosting containerized/serverless workloads and managed data services (e.g. PostgreSQL).
• End-to-end system development: requirements to handover; industry standards like Git, project planning, agile workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and own the architecture of the cloud platform, balancing security, reliability, cost and efficiency.
• Build self-service IaC modules, templates, pipelines and tooling for teams to use independently.
• Incorporate security into the platform via secure network design and least-privilege access.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to translate needs into platform architecture.
• Identify opportunities to enable other teams with new tools or better systems.
• Mentor engineers and raise platform/infrastructure skills across the team.
