Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) seeks a Network Development Engineer to build and operate the world’s largest cloud network. You will own networking infrastructure, learn the tools and systems the team relies on, and collaborate to deliver scalable, cost-efficient solutions for external customers.

You will lead projects, automate operations, analyze network performance, and drive improvements that keep systems reliable at Amazon scale.

Qualifications

• A relevant degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent experience in a large-scale network environment.
• Experience in a network-focused hands-on technical role with routing protocols/technologies in large scale data centre and/or WAN environments.
• Experience developing engineering, deployment, or operations mechanisms to support IP networking systems.
• Experience in a technical on-call capacity, responding to customer impacting events, mitigating and root cause analysis of those events.
• Knowledge of interacting with many network devices through configuration tools, IaC or scripting.

Responsibilities

• Lead network projects across sustaining engineering, deployment/implementation, scaling, technology refresh, best practices application, and/or network optimization.
• Influence operations, respond to customer impact events, troubleshoot, and improve automation for the network.
• Analyze the network using tools and metrics to ensure it operates correctly, safely and securely.
• Investigate technical issues scientifically and assist in fixing complex problems so they don't recur.
• Plan, deliver, and simplify new systems, processes, and tools to better deliver for customers.
• Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes, removing bottlenecks.
• Understand new networking systems and develop ways to safely implement them into our environment.
