Job summary

Autodesk is seeking a Senior Software Architect for its AEC Data team to define cloud-native services and a distributed data model that enable Autodesk Forma Industry Cloud and related products. The role focuses on API surfaces, service contracts, and cross-team governance rather than owning a single service.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years designing cloud-native distributed systems, strong leadership, and excellent communication skills, with deep expertise in AWS, data schemas, and API

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years designing cloud-native, distributed systems with cross-team impact.
• Deep expertise in cloud services (ideally AWS), API design, and distributed patterns.
• Strong grounding in data modeling and schema design, including versioning and compatibility.
• Excellent knowledge of software design and architecture patterns.
• Ability to influence across teams and drive alignment without direct authority.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills across diverse, cross-functional teams.
• Clear, concise communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• API Design & Evolution: design and evolve API surfaces across AEC Data services.
• System Architecture: define cross-team cloud-native architectures and contracts.
• Schema Design & Evolution: design semantic models and manage versioning and compatibility.
• Standards & Governance: establish standards, ADRs, and run cross-team reviews.
• Prototyping & Feasibility: prototype directions to de-risk decisions.
• Mentorship & Technical Leadership: mentor engineers and architects across teams.
• Reliability & Performance: define SLOs, observability, and performance goals.
• Communication: produce diagrams (C4) and executive-ready narratives.
