Cloud FinOps Leader: Optimize AWS Spend & Governance

Job summary

Referment is hiring a FinOps Lead to establish and own its cloud financial management capability. You will sit at the intersection of Engineering, Finance and Product, owning visibility, forecasting and governance of cloud costs, primarily in AWS.

This hands-on role requires translating technical cost data into business decisions, driving cost-saving initiatives and embedding FinOps best practices across a scaling fintech environment.

Qualifications

• Experience managing cloud spend in AWS or another large-scale public cloud.
• Strong understanding of AWS and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Experience delivering meaningful cloud cost savings.
• Knowledge of Reserved Instances, Savings Plans and pricing models.
• Experience with FinOps or cloud cost-management tooling.
• Strong tagging and cost allocation knowledge.
• Experience implementing showback and/or chargeback frameworks.
• Analytical skills to work with cloud consumption and financial data.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders across engineering, finance and product.

Responsibilities

• Own cloud cost management and optimisation across the organisation.
• Monitor AWS consumption and identify opportunities to reduce spend.
• Develop cost allocation and tagging standards.
• Implement showback and chargeback models.
• Manage Reserved Instances, Savings Plans and other cloud commitments.
• Partner with Engineering and Finance on forecasting and investment decisions.
• Establish FinOps governance, reporting and processes.
• Introduce and manage cloud cost-management tooling.
• Provide teams with visibility and accountability around cloud consumption.
• Embed FinOps best practices across the organisation.
