Job summary

Penguin Random House is seeking an experienced Data Architect to join our Technology team in London on a permanent, hybrid basis. You will help design and evolve our end-to-end cloud data platform, ensuring architecture aligns with business goals and data strategy.

You will translate priorities into practical architectures with the Data Platform and Lead Data Engineer, supporting Dev/DataOps practices and enabling robust BI and analytics capabilities.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience architecting cloud-based data engineering, BI and data science solutions.
• Experience with dbt for transforming, modelling, testing and documenting data.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server and Data Vault.
• Ability to design scalable data models for structured and unstructured data.
• Experience migrating legacy data to cloud platforms, incl. Snowflake.
• Knowledge of data governance and GDPR compliance.
• Strong communication and collaboration with engineering and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design robust, scalable data pipelines and architecture for our cloud data platform.
• Develop migration approach for legacy data into Snowflake and data lake layers.
• Embed security, quality, performance, and scalability into data environments.
• Ensure data architecture supports Power BI reporting and analytics.
• Set technical direction aligned with data strategy and platform roadmap.
• Support data governance, cataloging, and compliant use of data.
• Collaborate with data science teams to support ML/AI use cases.
• Stay updated on data industry developments to improve the platform.
