NHS Jobs in WorkWell Norfolk is seeking a Mental Health and Work Specialist to assess and support participants, running a focused eight-week program, delivering low‑intensity psychological interventions and risk management within the WorkWell model.

You will collaborate with GPs, coaches and employers, participate in MDTs, provide supervision and training, and ensure governance and safeguarding standards are met across the Norfolk neighbourhoods.

Responsibilities

• Undertake mental health assessments with participants identified at triage alongside Work and Health Coaches, ensuring the participant tells their story once.
• Assess and manage risk of suicide or self-harm and agree safety plans.
• Advise on triage decisions for referrals and coordinate clinical cover for non-working days.
• Deliver care in partnership with GP and/or mental health worker, updating the GP on outcomes.
• Recognise neurodiversity and learning disability and adapt assessment accordingly.
• Hold a small caseload of around eight weeks and deliver low‑intensity psychological interventions (e.g., CBT‑informed approaches).
• Focus interventions on work-related goals and MECC principles.
• Certify fit notes for WorkWell participants when appropriate.
• Use outcome measures to review progress and inform discharge.
• Attend the WorkWell MDT and provide the mental health perspective on case discussions and referrals.
• Offer case consultations to coaches between MDT meetings.
• Review complex cases and balance caseload with supervision and training.
• Provide clinical supervision and reflective practice to coaches.
• Design and deliver training on mental health awareness, risk conversations and safety planning.
• Support education for employers and partners on mental health and work.
• Work within governance framework and maintain accurate clinical records (GP notes).
• Identify safeguarding concerns and apply Mental Capacity Act.
• Report incidents and contribute to learning per PSIRF policy.
• Build referral relationships with NHS Talking Therapies, IPS, community mental health and crisis services.
• Provide feedback to inform service improvement and commissioning.
