A leading educational institution in Cardiff seeks Clinical Tutors to teach and support undergraduate students in clinical settings. Flexible work arrangements are offered for part and full days. The ideal candidate is a qualified Optometrist or Dispensing Optician with teaching experience and a passion for student development. The School of Optometry and Vision Sciences is looking to appoint a number of Clinical Tutors in all aspects of clinical teaching. We can offer working arrangements to suit you, including part and full days.
The role of the Clinical Tutor is varied and includes opportunities to teach in small groups, provide 1:1 support, advance students’ clinical competencies, provide occasional informal pastoral support to final year students, and enhance your own knowledge by being part of a team of supervisors; all of whom have areas of expertise and interest of their own. You will be an integral and vital part of the Undergraduate teaching programme and will contribute to the School’s outstanding graduate quality.
We are making a number of contracted appointments with regular hours over 22 weeks per year. Contracts are offered on a 2-year fixed term basis. We are also seeking applications from qualified Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians who would like to provide locum cover for ad-hoc staff absences. Clinic Tutor hourly rate is £27.78 - £29.48 per hour. This hourly rate is based on Grade 5 hourly rate of £18.3473 to £19.7983 (£33,482 - £36,130 pro rata per annum) plus 21% pay in lieu of annual leave plus market supplement.
