Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Mental Health Nurse to join the well established Section 136 Health Based Place of Safety team, based at Chorley and South Ribble General Hospital.

The Health Based Place of Safety cares for patients who have been detained on Section 136 or Section 135 of the Mental Health Act.

Main duties of the job

A passionate, empathic and resilient personality is essential, along with positive and collaborative teamwork skills in order to maintain a safe and positive culture that promotes patient recovery.

The successful applicant will be expected to work a pattern of both days and nights to cover this 24 hours a day 7 days a week service.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse Mental Health with experience since qualifying
• On-going registration with appropriate Professional Body

Knowledge

• Evidence of Continued Professional Development that supports clinical practice
• Can demonstrate an understanding and knowledge base of mental health conditions and their treatments
• Can demonstrate a working knowledge of physical health conditions and the complications that this can cause to patients experiencing mental ill health

Experience

• Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team structure
• Experience of assessing, planning, implementing, and reviewing care needs

Skills

• Developed clinical skills with a clear ability to understand new concepts and ideas in clinical practice
• Can demonstrate the ability to manage change and have an understanding and awareness of the NHS Plan
• An ability to understand how research and audits effect and benefit inpatient clinical practice
