Our Vision is to provide the best mental health, learning disability, autism and community based services for the populations we serve.

As an integrated mental health, learning disability and community Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including:
• Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, forensic services including low and medium secure care.
• Specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
• Community physical health and well-being services for children and adults.

The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,000 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. Job overview

Water Meadow View is a brand new mental health inpatient facility for adults who have learning disabilities, which is due to open in November 2025 on our site in Whittingham, Preston. As we prepare to open, we have an exciting opportunity for Clinical Team Leaders to join us and support the Multi-Disciplinary Team to deliver outstanding person centred care.

One of the Trust's aims is to deliver the best possible care to our patients. Water Meadow View will offer clinical excellence, support and safety with patient-centred care at its heart.

Working with the multi-disciplinary team, the post holder will lead and be responsible for the delivery of high-quality, evidenced based care and patient experience within the care group's inpatient settings through proactive clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary staff within their clinical area of responsibility.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have leadership experience, exceptional communication skills, motivational and influencing skills, and be able to encourage teams to work across organisational boundaries whilst holding patient care at the heart of their work.

The post holder will deliver on key responsibilities within the inpatient service by:
  • Being visible and leading by example.
  • Using clinical judgement and observations.
  • Ensuring clinical development of staff and student nurses.
  • Ensuring that patients and carers are fully involved in the planning and delivery of care.
  • Taking responsibility for shift coordination and leading the team in the delivery of safe, effective and quality clinical care.
  • Ensuring safe and high-quality care is delivered.
  • Driving up clinical standards.

  • Good knowledge of legislation, acts and developments relevant to people with learning disabilities and mental illness within inpatient settings (MHA, MCA, Human rights act, Care Act)
  • Knowledge of learning disabilities, behaviours that can present as a challenge, mental and physical health conditions, evidence based therapeutic interventions and treatments relevant to the needs of this client group
  • Understanding and knowledge of positive behaviour support
Experience
