Job summary

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for a Band 3 Clinical Support Worker in the Frailty Same Day Emergency Care (FIT SDEC) unit in Lancaster. The role involves nursing support within a fast-paced setting and opportunities to develop clinical skills under supervision.

The candidate will perform venepuncture, ECG, cannulation and may undertake additional tasks after training.

Qualifications

Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
Willingness to undertake NVQ level 2 in care related area.
Willingness to undertake NVQ level 3 in care related area.
Care certificate.

Responsibilities

Work in support of and under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), providing nursing care and assistance to patients within defined parameters specified by the RN.
Perform clinical skills ie. venepuncture, ECG and cannulation
Provide basic patient care and document that care in the patient records.
Work effectively with the multidisciplinary team in order to achieve desired outcomes that promote the well being of patients.
Assist the RN’s in the delivery of care to a designated patient group, demonstrating an ability to prioritise such care.
Assist in the implementation of direct clinical care.
Determine the comfort of patients by talking and listening to them and building up a rapport.
