Job description

This post offers an opportunity for doctors wishing to train in clinical neurosciences to gain parallel experience in clinical research or medical education. Research, quality improvement, or medical education activities will be included in the job plan. For suitable applicants, the post could include funding for a part-time higher degree supervised at a linked university.

This is a permanent position designed to support research and undergraduate teaching, as well as providing experience within clinical neurosciences. The contract duration may be extended for applicants pursuing a part-time Masters or Doctorate.

Clinical duties include ward cover for patients in the Central England Rehabilitation Unit. Appointees will gain experience with neurological and neurosurgical conditions, developing skills in interdisciplinary working and managing complex cases. Opportunities include outpatient and outreach settings, covering stages from hyperacute to long-term care. Participation in weekly educational complex case meetings will be expected.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will participate in the Royal Leamington Spa Rehabilitation Hospital on-call rota. This non-resident, 1:6 on-call rota covers the hospital site only (no acute admissions) and is supported by an on-call consultant.

On-call duties are shared with other specialty doctors (Elderly Care and Adult Rehabilitation) and provide out-of-hours coverage for all patients on site. The rota includes coverage for annual leave, short-term sickness, and study leave.
