Key Responsibilities
- Support the Cyber Security Operations Manager, providing specialist advice, reporting and assurance to principal stakeholders.
- Monitor security, technological, social and scientific trends that could influence the National Policing policy.
- Support implementation of the PDS Cyber Services (CS) strategy, roadmaps and business plans, bids and business cases.
- Ensure that outcomes and benefits are maximised from all people, process and technology investments, especially those that facilitate or enable improvements in policing outcomes, as part of the PDS role in leading delivery for the National Digital Policing Strategy 2020-30.
- Work closely with the Technical Operations team to manage security decision-making.
- Identify and implement appropriate controls, mitigations and risk treatment plans.
- Develop and manage cyber incident response for services in life.
- Ensure alignment of security operations with the strategic cyber aims of national services linked to policing.
- Implement vulnerability management arrangements.
- Develop and implement strategies for the timely remediation of identified vulnerabilities.
- Lead the security working group for specified national capabilities.
- Apply and implement Secure by Design principles.
- Monitor systems for anomalies or unusual events, and use threat intelligence sources to identify security incidents and coordinate with relevant stakeholders for a swift resolution.
- Enhance the security culture within the national Policing services by promoting best practices and security awareness.
- Assist the Supplier Security Specialist in overseeing and managing relationships with Third Parties, ensuring they meet contractual obligations related to national Policing services.
Minimum qualifications and experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of proven IT/Information security and risk consulting experience in large organisations with complex security and compliance requirements.
- Experience in the production of or input to process & procedural documentation, supporting the design, implementation and operation of security controls.
- Ability to develop strong working relationships with a wide number of stakeholders, particularly in managing expectations across a growing organisation, their suppliers and stakeholder groups.
- Proven experience of delivering security in one or more of the following cloud service provider environments: Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience in defining and/or implementing security controls across multiple layers of the IT architecture stack.
- Experience in the production of or input to design documentation (HLDs, LLDs, blueprints etc.), supporting cloud architecture design, implementation, operations, and automation in Azure, AWS, and GCP.
- Strong knowledge and ability to demonstrate the use of the NIST Cyber Security Framework, mapping and translating NIST Cyber Security Controls to other frameworks such as ISO27001 and CIS Top 20 controls, including understanding of the Azure Cloud Adoption Framework.
Additional requirements:
- All applicants must be eligible for NPPV3 and SC clearances. Successful applicants will require NPPV3 clearance before starting with PDS.
