The Early Intervention in Psychosis service (EIS) is a community-based, multidisciplinary service for individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis. This position will support the integration of research into EIS at SLaM, aiming to enhance clinical care through innovative research initiatives.
The role involves supporting a new cohort study focused on streamlining routine outcome data collection for all EIS patients, pioneering the use of mobile phone apps for patient-reported symptoms, and coordinating blood sample collection for future genomic analysis and personalized medicine.
The post will involve working closely with Dr. Katherine Beck, Prof. James MacCabe, and the Early Intervention Mission leadership team to develop and implement research activities. It offers opportunities to bridge clinical practice and research, gaining experience across laboratory, clinical, and project development settings, tailored to individual interests.
This position is ideal for individuals seeking to gain experience in clinical research with potential career aspirations in clinical academia. While the primary focus is on achieving research objectives, there will be opportunities for clinical work to support integration between research and clinical practice.
South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) offers a wide range of mental health services, working closely with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN), King's College London, and King's Health Partners.
