Job description

The post is based at St Mary’s Hospital. The post has 100% allocation to the on call rota, and 20% clinical and 80% research commitment. It is expected that the candidate will register for a higher degree. The research area will be in preterm birth prevention, and the clinical aspects of the post will involve obstetrics and gynaecology.

Weekly Preterm Birth Prevention clinics will be part of the candidates clinical and research commitments. The post will be for three years. The research component will be led by Dr Lynne Sykes (Associate Professor) and will involve a laboratory component.

Duties And Responsibilities

Each week will consist of research (80%), weekly obstetric medicine clinic, and an all day Preterm birth Prevention clinic. Theatre sessions including the elective cerclages and emergency cerclages will also be attended. The trainee will also contribute 100% to the on call rota. Trainees are expected to participate in regular appropriate handovers to their colleagues and follow up patients with abnormal results. There are opportunities for supervised scanning in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and to learn basic surgical skills.
