Job summary

East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Clinical Pharmacy Technician (Band 4-5) to join Surgery and Critical Care at Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital, Margate.

This fixed-term role for 12 months offers 30 hours per week with weekend and bank holiday flexibility. You will reconcile medicines, counsel patients, assist clinicians, and support discharge planning, with progression from band 4 to 5 via in-house policy.

Qualifications

• BTECH level 3 in Pharmaceutical science and relevant registrations.
• Pre-2022 NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Pharmacy Service Skills.
• Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
• Accredited for final accuracy checking of prescriptions.
• Medicines management accreditation or national equivalent.
• Evidence of CPD and ongoing professional development.
• Educational supervisor qualification and training experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete detailed medication histories and reconcile with inpatient meds.
• Counsel patients on new or changed medications to promote compliance.
• Assist doctors/nurses with medication queries.
• Evaluate suitability of patient medications for hospital use.
• Participate in discharge planning with ward staff and others.
• Accuracy check dispensed items in hospital dispensary or satellite unit.
• Carry out department audits and ensure procedures are followed.
