Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 5 Pharmacy Technician for Basildon site. The role involves Dispensary services, Medicine Management and Optimisation, and working 23 hours per week on a fixed-term contract ending 26 July 2027.

GPHC registration and hospital pharmacy experience are desirable. Salary £32,073 per annum pro rata for part time, with expected duties across dispensary operations and ward-based support.

Qualifications

• GPHC registration is required.
• BTEC / NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical science is required.
• Experience working in a team and hospital pharmacy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate drug or medicine related information to patients, relatives and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Communicate with ward staff to ensure timely supply of medicines.
• Transcribe clinically screened items to order.
• Participate in discharge planning to ensure timely discharge and seamless care.
• Provide advice to patients in written or verbal format to encourage compliance.
• Assess the suitability of patients’ own medicines for continued use during their hospital stay.
• Order medicines to wards under responsibility, adhering to formulary.
• Ensure ward handover to covering technician.
• Dispense and check drugs, record in stock control system, and manage controlled drugs.
