Mount Alvernia Hospital in Guildford, part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare, is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to join their Pharmacy Department. This is a bank role working on an 'as and when required' basis, providing staffing support during busy periods and staff absences.

Responsibilities

• Conduct medication reviews for inpatients and outpatients, identifying interactions, contraindications, and opportunities for medicines optimisation.
• Provide tailored advice to patients on treatment plans, including side effects, compliance, and lifestyle considerations.
• Support safe prescribing through reconciliation, clinical screening, and dose adjustment.
• Review and authorise prescriptions in line with guidelines, formulary restrictions, and regulations.
• Promote safe and cost-effective medicine use by supporting adherence to policies.
• Collaborate with procurement, stock control, and pharmacy technicians to ensure medicine availability.
• Monitor and report medication incidents, near misses, and adverse reactions per hospital protocols and MHRA guidance.

Candidate Requirements

• Degree in Pharmacy (MPharm, BSc, or BPharm).
• GPhC registration as a Pharmacist.
• Experience in a clinical hospital pharmacy role.
• Strong knowledge of therapeutics, guidelines, and legislation.
• Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Experience with electronic prescribing systems (e.g., EPMA).

Additional Information

Salary: Up to £30.00 per hour, depending on experience, training, and qualification.
