Job overview

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join our Palliative Care Specialist Team within one of the country’s largest acute NHS Trusts.

The post will be based at The Royal London in Whitechapel, with some rotation and cross-site working. The role involves supporting staff to ensure that people with specialist palliative care needs receive the care required to achieve the best quality of life possible.

This position requires extensive palliative care experience to support the delivery of clinically effective, efficient, and high-quality care, ensuring it is evidence-based and reflects current best practices.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will manage specialist palliative care advice and support for people affected by life-limiting illnesses and those at the end of their lives, through clinical practice, caseload management, leadership, education, research, audit, and professional activities.

The goal is to maximize patients' quality of life and provide support and advice to their families and carers.

Qualifications
  • Appropriate NMC registration (Adult Nursing)
  • Degree-level study (Masters degree or willingness to work towards this) and palliative care qualification
  • Advanced Communication Skills course or similar
  • Physical Assessment
  • Independent Nurse Prescriber or willingness to undertake
Experience
  • Extensive experience in palliative/end-of-life care/long-term conditions
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience at B6 level
  • Managing a clinical caseload
  • Delivering educational sessions and developing training programs
  • Willingness to participate in 7-day working/on-call rota
  • Managing challenging situations and ethical dilemmas
  • Research knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge of local/national health and social care policies
  • Knowledge of Urgent Care Plan
