Job summary
We seek an expert nurse with strong clinical, communication and leadership abilities to join the Bone Marrow Transplant Team as a Donor Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) two days a week. The team includes 7 Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) and a support worker and sits within a wider team of haematology (CNSs) and their respective MDTs.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for an already experienced CNS looking for a new challenge or a band 6 nurse looking to develop new skills and knowledge within a supportive experienced team.
Main duties of the jobThiswill provide an excellent opportunity to focus your advanced nursing skills on direct patient care and service development.
The post holder will be responsible for the coordination of donor pre and post care for related and unrelated donors as part of the service provided to Anthony Nolan.
They are responsible for providing education regarding stem cell collection focusing on donor welfare and liaising with various departments to ensure safe donations to UCLH patients and patients within the UK and abroad.
Within the team, there is a wide breadth of experience and there may be a need to cross-cover within the team to ensure a safe service.
Therole isa specialist educational resource, and the post holder will be expected to facilitate the professional development ofjuniornursesin the department.The post has full administrative support.
