An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Bariatric Service at ICHT. We are expanding the Clinical Nurse specialist team to meet the demands of a growing service and are recruiting a band 6 CNS. This will be an excellent opportunity for any individuals looking to become a Clinical Nurse Specialist and provide an opportunity to develop the necessary skills.
You will be key in providing a comprehensive highly specialist service to patients undergoing weight management via bariatric surgery. This role is a Monday to Friday service and is a role that requires on site visibility to support this service.
We are looking for autonomous, dynamic individuals who have a passion for patient care and an empathetic approach for caring for this group of patients. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, managerial skills and work well as part of a team. The aim of the post is to provide expert care, highly specialist advice and support to patients undergoing bariatric surgery and their careers.
As a Bariatric Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will support patients living with obesity throughout their surgical weight management journey. Working within a specialist multidisciplinary team, you will provide holistic, patient-centred care from assessment to post-operative follow-up. Your role includes leading nurse-led clinics, coordinating care as a keyworker, and offering tailored education, psychological support, and lifestyle advice to empower patients and improve outcomes.
You will use advanced communication and clinical reasoning skills to deliver individualised plans based on national guidance and local pathways. As a developing specialist, you will contribute to service improvement, audit, education, and research. You will work collaboratively across inpatient and outpatient settings, supporting care coordination, clinical decision-making and timely interventions.
We are looking for a compassionate, organised nurse with excellent communication, critical thinking, and IT skills. A proactive approach to learning, reflective practice, and multidisciplinary collaboration is essential.
