Clinical Nurse Lead

We have opportunities for a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Lead within North locality inpatient services, specifically on the Older Adults inpatient pathway at St Georges Park Hospital in Morpeth, on the functional pathway (Hauxley ward).

Main duties of the job
  • Act as a Clinical Nurse Lead within a multidisciplinary team, developing collaborative, needs-based care plans through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Deliver person-centered, holistic care.
  • Provide clinical leadership and support partnership working as a key member of the ward leadership team.
  • Serve as an identified deputy in the absence of the Ward Manager.
  • Facilitate and coordinate clinical practice, ensuring high standards of evidence-based care and treatment, including conducting clinical audits and implementing findings.
  • Be visible and accessible to patients, families, and carers, working to ensure efficient, effective, and compassionate services.
  • Lead on implementing performance indicators, standards, and quality outcomes.
  • Develop and deliver training to enhance staff and student skills.
  • Facilitate staff appraisals, clinical supervision, and support personal development plans.
  • Provide compassionate, respectful, and dignified care.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD), AHP, Social Worker, or Clinical Psychologist with current registration.
  • Post-registration training in relevant clinical or psychological interventions.
  • Proven clinical experience relevant to the role.
  • Training in CPA, Safeguarding, MAPPA, and Child Protection.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Therapy-based training qualification.
  • Degree-level qualification.
  • Management qualification.
  • Staff training and development experience.
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification.
Knowledge and Experience
  • 12-24 months Band 5 qualified nurse experience, depending on service needs.
  • Understanding of professional accountability, NMC standards, and related initiatives.
  • Experience working with older persons.
Skills and Competencies
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
