Job summary

Yorkshire Community Care in Leeds is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Lead to provide hands-on clinical practice while managing the nursing team across our services. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, person-centred care and upholding clinical governance.

You will lead complex care oversight, coordinate rostering, supervise the team and support training, while acting as a key contact for families and external professionals.

Qualifications

  • Registered nurse with current NMC registration or equivalent regulatory body.
  • Experience leading nursing teams or supervising staff.
  • Strong clinical skills in complex care and safe medication administration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and day-to-day supervision of the nursing team, promoting excellence, safety and person-centred practice.
  • Coordinate clinical rostering, caseload allocation and ensure appropriate clinical cover.
  • Carry out care plan risk assessment and oversee clinical governance activities.

  • Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure regulatory compliance.

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Nurse Lead to join our compassionate team at Yorkshire Community Care. This clinical leadership role will provide hands-on clinical practice alongside management of the nursing team to ensure safe, high-quality, person-centred care across our services in the region.

Key Responsibilities


  • Provide clinical leadership and day-to-day supervision of the nursing team, promoting a culture of excellence, safety and person-centred practice.


  • Coordinate clinical rostering, caseload allocation and ensure appropriate clinical cover to meet service needs.


  • Carry our care plan risk asessment.


  • Provide expert clinical oversight for complex care needs, including PEG feeding, medication management, tracheostomy and respiratory/airway support where required.


  • Undertake and lead clinical assessments, care planning, reviews and clinical competency sign-off.


  • Lead on clinical governance activity including audits, incident reviews, risk assessments and implementation of action plans to drive improvement.


  • Support recruitment, induction and ongoing training; identify workforce development needs and facilitate reflective practice and supervision.


  • Act as a key contact for families, carers and external healthcare professionals, fostering collaborative care and strong stakeholder relationships.


  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records, ensuring compliance with regulatory and organisational standards.


  • Contribute to policy development, quality improvement initiatives and service development projects.



Person Specification


  • Registered nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or other relevant regulatory body.


  • Minimum of 3 years' post-registration clinical experience, with demonstrable leadership or supervisory experience.


  • Strong clinical skills in complex care, including PEG feeding, medication administration and respiratory support; training for specific equipment can be provided.


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead teams and build positive relationships with families and external partners.


  • Proven ability to manage risk, safeguarding concerns and incidents with a calm, resilient and solution-focused approach.


  • Confident in clinical audit, quality assurance and implementing practice improvements.


  • Ability to work flexibly to meet service needs, including occasional evenings or weekend duties.


  • Evidence of continuous professional development and commitment to best practice.
